Barbara Pronin grew up in Brooklyn, New York where she first saw her byline in print in a community newsletter at the age of eight, and was forever hooked on writing.
As a transplant to Los Angeles at 17, she earned a bachelor’s degree in English and theater from California State University/Los Angeles.
Always open to a new adventure, she worked as an actress, a band singer, a probation officer, a news editor, and a substitute teacher, the last of which inspired her first book, Substitute Teaching: A Handbook to Hassle-Free Subbing, and provided the impetus to try her hand at novel-writing.
Her most recent mystery, The Miner’s Canary, was published last November; her newest novel, a World War II historical tale, Winter’s End, will be published early in 2024.
