Jack Mullen was born in New York City and raised in Pasadena, California. After serving as a U.S. Marine in Korea, he was an Eastman Kodak salesman before joining the San Diego police department. He worked patrol, vice, armed robbery, and homicide. After retiring, he wrote a police fiction novel, became agented, and sold the manuscript to Avon Books which published it and a second novel in the mid-nineties. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from San Diego State University.
