Weili Fan grew up in a quaint city on the east coast of China, and came of age with a starved mind during the Cultural Revolution (1966-1976). She was sent down to the countryside to receive “re-education” from peasants after high school. Weili joined the Class of ’77—the first class of college students after the Cultural Revolution.
A decade later, she embarked on her journey of the American Dream, which opened up a complete new vista.
Weili has published personal essays and book reviews in the US, the UK, and China, as well as a book in Taiwan. She writes both in English and Chinese.
